Praia a Mare (Official school site)

Praia a Mare is a very easy flight. To go up at the starting place you need a four well drive car or you can use our minibus that can easily bring you up at 600 meter. Starting place is quite small but is still very easy. Best hour to start are from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm in summer and from 12:00 am to 3:00 pm in winter.Praia a Mare is perfect for termalling flights and is difficult to get strong wind.Cross country flights here are not so long. Normally a good pilot can do a 9 km flight reaching the height of 1.500 meter.Landing is mandatory to use the official one in summer but in winter you can use all the beach of Praia a Mare.In landing area keep attention to the wind from SSW that normally gives turbulence behind the Isle of Dino.Roles:Always contact the local school before using the takeoff. Is not private but local pilots have spent lots of resource to build it and to keep it efficient and the school is a government authority in the area. Tandem pilots always in all condition have priority, no mind on who climbed first.

Maratea
In Maratea we have two different flights. One is just fantastic because the starting place is 1.170 meter above the sea. And landing, as Praia a Mare, is on the beach. Both flights are quite simple and never gives prohibitive condition, are thermodynamic places and if you don’t get enough wind from the sea (WSW) you wouldn’t make enough height to do some cross country.

Maratea Mount Coccovello (official school site)

Very easy flight, if you don’t mind to run and the stones that are on the takeoff site this flight is a great chose for those pilot that want to enjoy an easy flight with no complication. To go to the starting place is needed a normal car and takes like 40-50 minutes to drive up. As Praia a Mare you land on the beach that are in Acquafredda (close to Sapri). Best condition are 15-20 Km/h wind from WSW, difficult but not impossible to fly with very light wind from N, NNE and NE. Always remember that the beaches can’t be used for landing from the 1^st of June to the end of September because beaches are small, “Private” and full of people.

Maratea Tiro al Piattello

Is one of the oldest paragliding site in the area, normally know as a place where to do some soaring and nothing more. The takeoff is at 500 meters and you can reach it by car passing near the statue of Jesus Christ, similar of the one of Rio de Janeiro. Once you are at the takeoff you should think about the wind, if is too light you will make a 5 minute flight. Landing is in a small cove called “spiaggia near” (black beach) that is very small. Always remember to lose enough height before getting inside the cove and have a look at it first, before you go to the starting place. As the other flight of Maratea you are not allowed to land in any  beach from 1^st of June to the end of September.

Pollino National Park
One of the most natural and wild area in Europe. Here is quite simple to be isolated from the rest of the world in the middle of nowhere. When you arrive in Campo Tenese you will see the enormous chain of the Pollino’s mountains that are about 2.200 meters high. This is a place where cross country is a normal thing to do. Many flights are close to, and above, 3.000 meters. Remember to stop in a Agriturismo in this area because you could eat the real traditional and healthy food of Northern Calabria. 

Campo Tenese (official school site)

Fantastic site with some important restrictions. The take off and the landing place are very close that will permit to go up and down all the day. Is always better to be at the takeoff site early in the morning 9:00 am in summer and 10:00-10:30 in winter. Once you are on the top of Mauntain La Serra, where some telecom antenna are installed, you can chose to takeoff from the NW side or the SE side. NW side is the official one but sometimes you can fly on the other side facing to the city of Morano Calabro and landing place is close to a big fountain. Please never thing to fly if the wind is above 25 Km/h because easily can get stronger and can reach 70 km/h from NW. If you are flying and you think that the wind is getting stronger leave the maintain crest and fly to the centre of the valley where the wind is lower and you can safely land.  

Mormanno Cerviero Mauntain
Pilot level: Expert; Type of road: four wheel drive car; Restriction: nonel;
Interesting place because is playable with the winds from S to NNW. Is reachable only with a four wheel drive car. Only for experienced pilots.

Belvedere Marittimo (Trifari)
Pilot level: Entermediate/Expert; Type of road: normal car; Restriction: none;

Another coast flight but with a great potentiality. You fly in front of a huge mountain and easily you can reach the top that is close to 2000 meter. From there you can make a good xc flight going to the north and get to Verbicaro that is another flying site. Only experienced pilots. 

Verbicaro
Pilot level: Entermediate/Expert; Type of road: normal car; Restriction: none;

This is a remote town in the middle of the mountains. Take of is easy to reach by car and also the landing place. Is quite difficult to land with strong condition so is preferred in emergency to land in the middle of the soccer stadium.
